About John Lee

John Lee is a Barrister, Mediator and President of the Sunshine Coast Bar Association with wide experience in all forms of litigation and alternative dispute resolution, covering a broad array of interests. He has significant experience in running trials and mediating in succession, insurance, commercial, criminal, family, negligence, farming and defamation disputes.

John is on the Panel of Mediators for Retail Shop Leases disputes and the QSBC Panel, and has been involved in several hundred Mediations since 1990, either as Mediator, or a representative of one of the parties.

John commenced practice in 1982 in criminal and family law matters, moving later to embrace all forms of civil litigation including personal injuries, wills and estates, insurance, contracts, negligence claims and defamation.

John has held a Commission to Prosecute from the State of Queensland since 1990, and has prosecuted anti-doping matters for the Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority (now renamed Sport Integrity Australia) since 2018 and now lectures at the University of the Sunshine Coast Law School in Sports Law.

John has spent many years on Boards of Community and Sporting Organisations, including 5 years as President of Squash Australia and on the Australian Commonwealth Games Board. He regularly provides pro bono advice to such organisations.
